12 circular cards, 2 5/8 in. in diameter. Each with a colored aquatint view of a naval action and descriptive text on the back. All cards hinged with white string and ribbon forming a connected series. Folded into the publisher's circular bronze medal container, upper cover embossed with head of Lord Nelson, "England's Admiral Nelson Duke of Bronte Hor Vicecom Nelson Ob Patriam Pvgnando Mort Oct. XXI, MDCCCV (i.e. 1805)"; and lower cover with Britannia's angel figure on the water, Roman galleys in background, "Record of Naval Valour, Every man has done his duty, Ipse Belli Fvlmen". In original circular plush-lined red morocco case with two clasps, stamped Record of British Naval Valour.
Each view with imprint on verso Pub. by Edw. Orme (except first) and caption "Naval exploits".
First card: Chronological list of naval actions, with imprint: Published by Edw. Orme, New Bond Street. On verso: Ld. Rodney's Victory.
On verso of each bronze cover, separate engraved cards depicting a compass and anchor with words Loyalty, Victory, Thus, Discipline, Virtue, Science, Generosity, Honor...
