First and only Bodoni edition, measuring 9 11/16 x 6 9/16 inches, with the text and the title hand-ruled.
Extra-illustrated with a suite of 8 engravings, consisting of VI numbered plates "designed by a lady," engraved by Birril, bearing the legend "Pubd as the Act directs 1 July 1793 by E. & S. Harding No. 102 Pall Mall.", with a frontispiece signed "Barlow sculp." and an oval stipple by Harding of Lady Mary Coke, to whom Walpole has written a sonnet. The portrait is signed "Pub. July 9, 1793 by E. & S. Harding. Pall-Mall."
