Collection of 337 lithographs by Alfred-Henri Darjou; chiefly social and political satires originally issued in the journal Charivari during the 1860's on such topics as the American Civil War; Prussian militarism and conflicts relating to the unification of Germany, such as the Schleswig-Holstein War; the unification of Italy; the January uprising in Poland; and the French occupation of Mexico; as well as various military enagagements by the national powers of France, England, Prussia, Austria, Turkey, and Russia during this period. Plates issued "sur blanc", without text on verso.
