"Gibraltar"--front of slide case.
Mechanical magic lantern slide, hand-painted on glass and enclosed in a mahogany case operated with a crank. It consists of three circular glass slides, one stationary depicting the Rock of Gibraltar, and two moving depicting five sailing ships at sea. The slides are placed on top of each other and projected together, while a lever moves the two top slides giving the illusion of the ships moving in the rough sea off Gibraltar.
Housed with another lantern slide, Pictures of fairies (PML 152732).
