According to an advertisement in PML 87096, this work was "The protean figure; or, Metamorphic costumes: representing a series of twelve characters, and upwards of ninety diferent parts of dress, very amusing and particularly recommended to the attention of master tailors. Coloured. price 21s."
The backdrop has been treated and flattened by conservation dept. and is stored with flat pieces in JPW section of Flatfile.
