Published as a set of 19 volumes and a memorandum book, in two sizes. (Library's copy lacking five volumes). Housed in a box with four compartments and a narrow horizontal drawer on top (now lacking) containing a pencil and a portfolio. The two upper compartments are made for ten books, 9.5 cm high, (the left one empty) and the two lower compartments are made for ten books, as well, 11.5 cm high. In this copy, the smaller volumes are placed in the upper compartments, while in other copies the upper and lower compartments are reversed.
Engraved frontispieces signed by J. Piggot in Select and Entertaining Stories, vol. 1-2.
"A Memorandum Book" which is lacking in this copy comprises a title leaf and 68 blank pages (cf. Alderson)

Binding
In publisher's 1/4 red cloth with pink, yellow, or green glazed paper boards, the "Child's grammar" in publisher's green marbled paper covers. All but one with original engraved title labels on upper and lower covers. Housed in publisher's miniature sycamore bookcase, divided into four compartments and a drawer (now lacking) and lined with pink paper. A large engraved label is pasted on sliding lid to give an impression of a glass-fronted bookcase. The painted spines of books on the shelves have titles equivalent to those of the library itself. (box: 28 x 18.5 x 10.5 cm, ; lid: 30 cm tall).
