Three Little Pigs, page 100. "In 1892 Andrew Lang included "The Three Little Pigs" in the Green Fairy Book. Here again we have Mother Pig dying and counseling her siblings. However, a great deal more stress is placed on the personalities of Browny, Blacky, and Whitey. The misfortunes as to the slyness and treachery of the fox and the stylized language of the 1853 and 1890 versions is not present. However the demise of the fox is by boiling in a pot of water which he falls into from the chimney. This ending appears in the 1853 and 1890 versions, but not in the Harris 1881 version. Lang's version differs in an important way from all earlier versions in that the first two pigs are not eaten by the fox but are saved by the third pig. This ending seems to hold for later tellings, e.g. Walt Disney and the song "Who's Afaid of the Big Bad Wolf?" sung by all three pigs, etc.
