Telescopic, hand-colored, etched peepshow with one viewing hole, comprising a front cover, four cut-out images numbered 1-4, and a backdrop, connected at the top and bottom by bands of contemporary paper folded accordion-style.
A perspective view of the 18th - 19th century annual social event, the Promenade de Longchamp, which took place on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of Easter week, when the new spring fashions for the year were displayed for the first time. The promenade started from the Champs Elysées through the Porte Maillot to the Abbey of Longchamp in the Bois de Boulogne. The front cover shows a park view with pedestal-mounted equestrian statues at either side, and the cut-out prints and backdrop reveal the procession of people in festive costumes on horseback, in carriages, and on foot. The Champs Elysées with the Arc de Triomphe? is visible in the far distance.
