Telescopic peep-show of the Thames Tunnel: It comprises a hand-colored front cover, depicting a view of the Thames looking downstream towards new London bridge and St. Paul's Cathedral, backdrop, and five cut-out, arched images of the tunnel that are viewed through an oval hole, cut out from the center of the front cover. Through the arches are viewed pedestrians, carriages, and a staircase, down which passengers would descend from street level. The front cover, arches, and backdrop are connected at top and bottom by bands of accordion pleated paper.
Between 1825 and the 1860s, a number of perspective views were produced and sold as souvenirs for this major tourist attraction, even before the opening of the Tunnel in 1843.
