Inscriptions/Markings
Extensive marginalia (by King?) throughout in same hand as writing on the blank leaf which is dated July 25, 1682: "Notes by some zealous Protestant, everywhere exclaiming against the Superstition, idolatry, Blasphemy, lies, and Impostures it contains to the Dishonour of God, and the everlasting Infamy of the Church that owns the abominable Worship directed to therein" (cf. Bibl. Harl.); also some marginalia in a 16th-century hand. Auction marks on front paste-down from Bibliotheca Westiana, 1773; inscribed on first fly-leaf: Wm Herbert, 1773.
