Notes
Aside from a half interest in a Worcester printing firm briefly held by Howland in 1831, Henry J. Howland began his longtime Worcester printing career in July, 1835, and it continued through at least 1893. (Cf. Franklyn Howland, A brief genealogical & biog. hist. of Arthur, Henry & John Howland (New Bedford, 1885), p. 372; newspaper obituary in AAS files.) Copy in hand bears a handwritten note that the copy was printed on paper made by the company that bought the Burbank Paper Mill in 1838 (sic?). According to the AAS proceedings (new series, v. 13, p. 436), the Burbank Paper Mill in Worcester was sold to the Quinsigamond Paper Company in 1834.
