Variant title of Maia on cover of v. 1: Laus vitae. Variant title of Merope on cover of v. 4: Le canzoni della gesta d'oltremare.
Of 7 projected books of Laudi (Maia, Elettra, Alcione, Merope, Taigete, Asterope, Celeno), books 1-3 were published in a deluxe ed. in 2 v. (1903-1904). In this smaller-sized popular ed. they are reprinted in 3 v. Book 4 (Merope) did not appear in the deluxe format and is here first published as v. 4. No more was published in either edition. Asterope was ultimately published in the 1933 vol. of the Edizione nazionale of author's works under title: Canti della guerra latina.
