Letterpress half-title, without date or border, with signature-mark "[paragraph]1", evidently printed as the first leaf of "Two godly sermons (STC 6732 or 6733), which forms the first work of the collection.
First collected ed. (STC 6676).
Reprints by the Dutch printer, Richard Schilders, of four separate works (first published in England) and brought together in one volume with the addition of a collective half-title: Maister Derings workes.
Contents and organization of this collection vary. STC gives two combinations occurring most commonly which may be considered "ideal". Combination (a) consists of (1) "Two godly sermons" (STC 6733); (2) "XXVII. lectures or readinges, upon part of the epistle written to the Hebrues" (STC 6730); and (3) "A briefe and necessarie catachisme or instruction" (STC 6680.5). All of these have title pages dated 1590 and without borders or with borders of type ornaments. Combination (b) consists of (1) "Two godly sermons" (STC 6732); (2) "XXVII. lectures or readinges, upon part of the epistle written to the Hebrues" (STC 6730.5); (3) "A briefe and necessary catechisme or instruction" (STC 6680.7); and (4) "Certaine godly and verie comfortable letters" (STC 6682.5). All in combination (b) are undated and have a woodcut title-page border. Copies may have a mixture of constituents and order of the works included may vary.
Library's copy does not conform to either recognized variant, being comprised of four works as described for variant b, but with the first work (PML 7705.1: Two godly sermons) and the third (PML 7705.3: A briefe and necessarie catachisme or instrvcion) having the letterpress title page, dated 1590, as described for variant a, with the remaining two works having undated title pages with decorative woodcut title-page borders, as described for variant b.
Individual works comprising this volume have been cataloged separately (see PML 7705.1-4)
