The text, attributed to Paolo Paciaudi (cf. Brooks & Melzi), describes the symbolic meaning of the monument erected on the occasion of the visit of Joseph II in Parma and of the announcement of marriage of Ferdinand, Infant of Spain, Duke of Parma to Maria Amalia, Archduchess of Austria. The monument was designed by the French architect Edmond Alexandre Petitot.
