An acrostic in Latin through chapter initials provides the author's name: Poliam frater Franciscvs Colvmna peramavit. Khomentovskaia however, has attributed the work to Felice Feliciano.
Latin half-title: Poliphili hypnerotomachia, ubi humana omnia non nisi somnium esse ostendit, atque obiter plurima scitu sanequam digna comemorat. (leaf a1).
