Hamilton speculates that Lawrence Lovechild may have been Lady Eleanor Fenn, whose pseudonyms were Solomon Lovechild, Mrs. Lovechild, and Mrs. Teachwell. Many chapbook versions of fairy tales and children's stories were issued with this name around Philadelphia in the 1840's.
