The fifth in a series of eleven narratives often called the "Eliot Indian tracts" issued between 1643 and 1671 by persons in England interested in the work of converting the New England Indians. Cf. Church.
The first letter is by Thomas Mayhew (printed Mayhow) missionary to the Indians of Martha's Vineyard; the remaining five are by John Eliot. Published at the request of the Corporation for the Promoting and Propagating the Gospel of Jesus Christ in New England. Dedicatory epistle signed: Henry Whitfeld [sic].
