Notes
"Four impressions dated 1867 are known of this edition ... The second stanza on page 46 begins, in the first impression, with the words 'With quick heart-glow,' in the second and third impressions with 'In sight and sound,' and in the fourth with 'Thanks for the fitting word.' The second and third impressions may be distinguished by the first words of the next to the last line on page 42, this line, in the second impression, beginning 'Our part,' and in the third, 'Unscaled.' ... There are two successive types of binding for the first impression, the earlier having single lines, in blind, bordering the covers, and the later double lines ..."--Currier, T.F. Whittier, p. 102.
