Summary
'Vanity Fair' was famous in part for its coloured caricatures of statesmen, politicians and and public figures of the day. These were principally by "Spy" (i.e. Sir Leslie Ward) and "Ape" (i.e. Carlo Pellegrini, who in 1869-1870 went under the pseudonym "Singe").
