The earliest known edition, dated 1614, was published under title: Verbum sempiternae (later corrected to sempiternum); cf. Stone, W.M. The Thumb Bible of John Taylor (1928). A miniature edition was printed before this one in Aberdeen in 1760 and is considered the first "separate" of this text which appeared in John Taylor, the Water-poet's "Works..." London, 1630.
