First edition, 2nd issue: identical with the 1st issue (1861) except that a blank leaf watermarked "T & PH 1862" is inserted at front. Copies of the 3d issue (1870) have an additional leaf at end, containing Browning's sonnet: Helen's tower, which were added and distributed 1870 or after. According to Arnold's cat., this is the second edition.
First written 1861, with leaf by Browning, 1870. The first issue of the first edition (1861) should not have the Browning verses.

Probably compiled by the Marquis of Dufferin and Ava who had erected the tower in honor of his mother. Includes the Baroness of Dufferin and Clandeboye's poem "To my dear son on his 21st birthday" and Tennyson's ten-line poem beginning "Helen's tower, here I stand ..." Tennyson's poem was later published, with 2 added lines, in his Tiresias and other poems (1885).
