Tipped into Vol. 1: an A.L.S. from Longfellow to the publisher dated Feb. 19, 1870, promising new manuscript page for each of the three copies rather than leaves from his manuscript of this translation. The leaf, bound following the letter is for a section from Inferno III.22, dated in his hand, Feb. 20, 1870.
