Provenance
John Morris (likely the mayor of Cardigan, Wales, for periods between 1664-97), presentation copy in recognition of his contributions toward printing this Bible, inscription: "For John Morris esyr [esquire] those in thankfull acknowledgement of his former bounty to Wales in contributing towards the printing this Bible, and teaching many hundreds of your children to read and some to write," and signed by John Tillotston (1630-1694), then dean of Canterbury, later archbishop of Canterbury, Edward Stillingfleet (1635-1699), then dean of St Paul's, later bishop of Worcester, Benjamin Whichcote (1609-1683), one of the foremost 'Cambridge Platonists', Thomas Firmin (1632-1697), a philanthropist, John Meriton (1630/1?-1704), a clergyman, William Durham (1610/11-1684), a clergyman, and Edward Fowler (1631/2-1714), later bishop of Gloucester (front endleaf 4 recto, ex-info Gruffudd Antur, Univ. of Wales); Sir Robert Clayton (1629-1707), armorial bookplate, "of the city of London. Knight Alderman & Mayor thereof An⁰. 1679" (front pastedown, preserved from previous binding).
