Presentation inscriptions from Tennyson to Edmund Law Lushington, Professor of Greek at Glasgow University. The Tennysons were living at Boxley in 1842, the Lushingtons at Maidstone. On 14 October 1842 Lushington married Tennyson's sister Cecilia. Tennyson and Lushington had been friends at Cambridge and remained close throughout their lives.
