Verso: in pen, "11:41 pm," "Milkw. Sentinel"; text "Heavy iron tongs hold the plate as the powder is "burned in" over the flames. When the tiny dots are sufficiently protected by the fused "Dragon's Blood," the plate is given a second "bite" by being immersed again in nitric acid. (When more time can be afforded, as many as five separate powderings and acid etches or bites are given to produce the desired relief or...".
