Music Cataloger

The Morgan Library & Museum invites applications for the part-time position of Music Cataloger. The Music Cataloger performs original cataloging of music manuscripts, printed music, and other types of material related to the music collections in CORSAIR, the Morgan’s collections database; utilizes OCLC’s WorldCat for copy cataloging; performs authority control on the records; assists with the physical processing and rehousing of the material; and performs database maintenance tasks in various systems related to collection management for items in the music collections.

Qualifications
  • Knowledge of descriptive cataloging standards and best practices related to music required
  • Knowledge of the MARC format, especially its music-related application, required
  • Knowledge of authority control practices required
  • Excellent proofreading skills and attention to detail required
  • Master's degree in Library and Information Science required
  • Advanced degree in music or demonstrated experience in music cataloging required
  • Prior experience working in special collections preferred
Compensation

$35/hour
