Acquired by J. Pierpont Morgan (1837-1913), New York, and installed in his library 1907-1909.
Composition made up of various fragments: at top, a cartouche with a shield bearing a bend or and azure, flanked by towers with windows; at center, an oval with Christ Crucified between two theives, with the grieving Virgin, Mary Magdalen, and St. John; at left, a landscape with a road leading into a village and figures; at right, a soldier holding a staff and balancing on one foot; below, floral motifs with a shield bearing three bars of gold and azure below three lion heads.
