Attributed to the school of Bernardo (di Betto) Pinturicchio (Perugia 1452-1513 Siena) or Pietro Perugino (Citta della Pieve ca. 1450-1523 Fontigano).
A copy after a lost original; other versions are in the Musée du Louvre, Paris, and the Fogg Art Museum, Cambridge.
This painting was acquired by Morgan as the work of Pinturicchio. Everett Fahy has attributed the painting to Antonio da Viterbo (Giovanni Nanni), noting a similar work in the Fogg Art Museum, Cambridge.
