16th- or 17th-century red morocco tooled in thin gold, imitating 16th century bindings made for Henri III and Louise de Lorraine; their arms joined on upper cover (crowned shields of France and Poland accosted) surrounded by the arms of the Order of the Holy Ghost, surmounted by a crown in which is the motto: Manet ultima coelo; on the lower cover the arms of France, with the combined initials of Henri and Louise beneath a fleur-de-lis in the corners.
Purchased by J. Pierpont Morgan (1837-1913) in 1907.

Ex-munificentia Dom D (on second paper flyleaf); Al molto illustro et ossmo Sig.Gio.Batta Conti (on fol. 50v; perhaps Giovanni Battista Conte di Conti, father of the poet of the same name (1741-1820); purchased by J. Pierpont Morgan (1837-1913) from Lodovico Badin in 1907; J.P. Morgan (1867-1943).
