Venetian, 16th-century red morocco, richly gilt in the oriental style with border and central panel having deeply sunk compartments, blocked in gold; in center of upper cover the Lion of St. Mark; unidentified arms of the podestà on lower cover.
Purchased by J. Pierpont Morgan (1837-1913) in 1907.

Seventeenth-century inscription on fol. 87 has name of a then owner, Griermus Cornelio; D. Morgand (inv. no. 26435); purchased by J. Pierpont Morgan (1837-1913) from Ed. Rahir, Paris, in August 1907; J.P. Morgan (1867-1943).
Ms.; written in the Palace of the Doge, signed on fol. 85 by Aloysius Zantro, secretary of the Council of Ten, and dated July 24, 1574.
