Binding: 
Former binding: Trimmed on the top, bottom and edge next to the spine; recessed center panel has a stippled gold background and slightly raised golden cloud bands and flowers; recessed panels of vine rinceaux above and below the main field; a narrow braid and blind fillets used for the border; tan leather doublures with center scalloped medallions, pendants, and corners of small, black leather arabesque filigrane over slate-blue parchment; braid borders, fillets, and short tooth motifs surround the center medallions as well as the edges; flap is missing; binding has been preserved.

Warren of Waltham, Massachussetts; John Bigelow, New York, ca. 1904; acquired by J. Pierpont Morgan (1837-1913) before 1913; J.P. Morgan (1867-1943).

Ms. poems of Ḥāfiẓ; written and illuminated probably in Shīrāz, Iran, 4 Rabʻ̄i II 944 (i.e., Nov. 11, 1537).
On fol. 1r is an inscription in Armenian script but in the Turkish language identifying the work; fol. 155v contains Turkish poetry--Cf. Schmitz.
Decoration: 3 miniatures and a double-page frontispiece; text is in black nastaʻlīq and the headings are in gold and blue tawqī (linked script).
