Binding: 
Octagonal dark brown leather covers with appliques of molded paper in floral and geometric patterns, painted gold. In octagonal silver box (probably Iran, 19th century), with relief designs, clasp and catch, two belt hangers; lined in green velvet, the lining possibly added by JPW. The box is stored separately in the same housing container (MS W.22a).

Ms. Koran; written and illuminated perhaps in Iran, 17th century.
Decoration: 1 illuminated title page surrounding small text block of 8 lines in height; all text pages are bordered octagonally in bands of gold and black rulings. Sūra headings written in gold, gold dots between verses.
