Incorporated into the border decoration are the arms of pope Leo X and two of his devices: a yoke over the inscription SVAVE; and a ring encircling the anagram GLOVIS (an inversion of the motto si volg(e); Church of Sta. Maria sopra Minerva, Rome?; allegedly sold by church authorities ca. 1925; Dr. Jacob Hirsch, Geneva; purchased from Hirsch by Mrs. Herbert Straus 27 November 1926; gift of Mrs. Herbert N. Straus in October, 1962.
