Ms. Missal single leaf (cutting), written in Montecassino, Italy, early 12th century.
One of 10 known leaves from an illuminated Missal, recovered from bindings, reputedly from the Neapolitan Archives, where they had been used as wrappers.
Text begins: Verita david servo meo.
Musical notation: neumes on recto.
Decoration: 2-line initials formed of interlacing foliate elements in liquid gold outlined in red, sometimes filled in with blue and red, 1-line red painted initials, filled in with blue, green, or yellow.
