Ms. prayerbook leaves; written and illuminated in Germany, possibly Augsburg, ca. 1520-25.
Decoration: 1 miniature depicting the Madonna and child with donor, 1 illuminated border, 3 illuminated initials; German Gothic style. Merkl (1999) attributes the miniature to Ulrich Taler, and suggests that the patron is Abbot Johannes VI Schrott of St. Ulrich and Afra in Augsburg.
Seven other leaves from the same manuscript were sold at Sotheby's, London, on Dec. 13, 1976, lot 24.
