Ms. Bible; written and illuminated in what is now the Czech Republic, perhaps in Prague, and dated February 2, 1456 in the colophon.
Colophon on fol. 479v, translated: Hail Jesus Be the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ with all of us. Amen. Thereby there are finished the books of the Holy Script which are called the Bible. In the year of our Lord 1456 on the Saturday before [the Catholic feast of] Hromnice = Candelmas, February 2.
Decoration: 130 illuminated initials with gold leaf centers, tooled with rosettes, marginal vine scroll.
The watermark on the end papers is similar to Briquet 7615: St. Peter with the key to heaven, datable to ca. 1566-1601.
