Summary
Discussing getting his comments on his book ["One on one", later titled "The angels and the sparrows"] and how to get it published; mentioning that he has no preferences on publishers and suggests Harcourt, Brace or Farrar, Straus and Cudahy; saying that he sent 3 sections of his book to World Publishing where he dealt with Aaron Asher of Meridian and that they were enthusiastic about it, but did not make an advance; adding that he asked for it back so he can send it to Viking; stating that he will send Volkening his third and last copy within a day or two, after he binds it and that Saul [Bellow] has the second carbon copy of it; discussing magazine possibilities for "Michael, Mary & Chick" sections could stand alone with some minor deletions; adding that Bellow was considering publishing "Francis" in the Noble Savage, but it was too long; expressing his excitement in beginning their professional relationship based on Saul's recommendation; (postscript) concluding that he has become disenchanted with the title "One by one" but he hasn't thought of a better one yet.
