Typescript of a radio play for "The case of the murdering mama" part of The Adventures of the Thin Man radio series, initially starring Les Damon, was broadcast on all four major radio networks during the years 1941 to 1950. The radio series was modeled after the film series which was based on the 1934 Dashiell Hammett novel. Sponsored by General Foods (Post Toasties, Maxwell House Coffee, Sanka), the next series began on CBS January 8, 1943, airing on Fridays at 8:30pm and some Sunday timeslots and continuing until December 26, 1947.
On letterhead stationery of Benton & Bowles, Inc.; place of writing is based on letterhead. Benton & Bowles, an advertising agency, used radio shows to promote their clients' products. The cover sheet of this radio play lists the client as "General Foods Corporation," the product as "Post Toasties," the program as "The Adventures of the Thin Man," the date as "Sunday, May 14 [with 14 crossed out and 21 written over it], 1944," and the station as "CBS -- 10:30-11:30 PM."
