A carbon copy of a typescript of an unproduced play written by John Ashbery and proprosed to Julian Beck and Judith Malina to be produced by the Living Theatre in 1955.
Caption title.
Written in ink by Ashbery on cover sheet: "Dear Judith and Julian, I'd love a note from you saying what you think. Love, J."
Written in ink by Julian Beck on page 72: "The Compromise was sent to us by John Ashbery circa 1955 for consideration for production. We never found the opportunity at the Living Theatre to do it. Julian Beck NYC Feb 1985."
Postmarked "AUG 27 1955" and stamped.
