The copy was made by Henry Ellis (secretary to the trustees), who attests to this at the bottom of the page.
This copy was transmitted to Sir George Beaumont. The paintings referred to became part of the nucleus of the National Gallery.
This letter is from a large collection of letters written to Sir George Howland Beaumont (1753-1827) and Lady Margaret Willes Beaumont (1758-1829) of Coleorton Hall and to other members of the Beaumont family.
This item was formerly identified as MA 1581 (Beaumont gifts to the British Museum, no. 7).

Summary
Consisting of notes from a meeting of the trustees, with Charles Manners-Sutton, Archbishop of Canterbury in the chair. The notes record that a letter by Sir George Beaumont "confirming the donation of a collection of pictures to the Museum" was read out, that a list of the paintings had been presented to the last General Meeting by Charles Long, and that the resolution was taken to thank Beaumont on behalf of the trustees for "his magnificent Present."
