Bacon's note (7 lines) is written below a warrant (12 lines, dated June 18 [1616]) in the hand of and signed by Ralph Winwood and addressed to Sir George Moore, Knight Lieutenant of the Tower. The warrant states that "Hys Ma[jes]ty is graciously pleased that Sir Thomas Monson ... by reason of the long vacation, should have some release of his close imprisonnem[en]t: both to enjoy more freedom of th[e] ayre and to have liberty to confer with such as shall have occasion to repayre unto him in the presence of the Lieutenant...." The verso of the document also includes two notes in an unknown hand; the first (dated June 18, 1616) summarizing Winwood's warrant and the second (dated July 22, 1616) commenting on Bacon's note.
Bacon's note is also signed by Sir Thomas Egerton, Baron Ellesmere, Chancellor.
