Removed from an extra-illustrated copy of Boswell's Life of Johnson, volume 4, page 127 and page 130.
With an autograph letter to Percy returning a copy of Wood's "Athenæ Oxonienses"; saying that it was of no use but that he did "...find that James the 1st was at Newmarket, because Wood says, that he knighted the father of Sir Harry Vane, who was beheaded in the Reign of Charles 2nd at that place."
The place of writing is not given but it is likely London as Berenger was serving as Gentleman of the Horse at the time and Thomas Percy served as Chaplain to George II from 1769-1778.
