Denying that he "resemble[s] Jean Jacques Rousseau," and adding, "I have no ambition to be like so illustrious a madman, but this I know, that I shall live in my own manner, and as much alone as possible"; telling her that he will be "glad to see" her "when [his] rooms are ready," and noting that "at present it would be improper, & uncomfortable to both parties" for her to visit; mentioning his departure for Persia in March; commenting on his will, and telling her that he has "taken care [she] shall have the house & manor for life, besides a sufficient income."
