Summary
Concerning a possible misuse of funds by Caton without permission from Carroll; saying "surely you have not drawn any of my money out of Mr. Neilson's hands without a check or order from me for such drafts. If you have done so, your conduct is not justifiable and lessening confidence in you; I cannot believe you have acted thus; and if Neilson has paid you any money without my authority for so doing, he has acted contrary to my express directions. I beg you to answer this letter and inform me if you have made use of any of my money in Neilson's hands, to what amount, and how you mean to replace it. I have frequently told you that all the money I have in Neilson's I want and in fact is appropriated - a speedy answer will relieve, I hope, the anxiety I feel upon this business."
