Summary
Writing that Lord Cornwallis is "busily" fortifying Yorktown; discussing the insufficient efforts to obtain wagons and provisions for the arriving French troops; noting that "this coolness amongst the best of Whigs has arisen from the Wanton & unnecessary Abuses committed on their property hitherto"; adding that the Marquis de Lafayette and his light infantry "are Complimented for their orderly behaviour"; reporting on the strength of the French fleet and land forces; hoping that [George] Washington has reached camp; telling him of Lafayette's "very polite reception" of Greene's letters.
