Summary
Replying to his letter concerning Lieutenant Connolly; saying that in consideration of the respect he has for Lieutenant Connolly's father, he will not pursue the Court-Martial nor the "unconditional Resignation" but rather he is "on Leave of Absence with his Father and I regret that this arrangement has been already made as it deprives me of the Pleasure of proving with what alacrity I should have oblig'd your Command."
