Thanking West for an invitation; explaining that "since the complaint under which I laboured about a year ago, I have declined all proposals for dining from home, but on the present occasion I must depart from my rule for tho' my sentiments & conduct relative to your present situation in the Royal Academy have been so direct and unequivocal as to need no additional proof, I should be sorry to omit any thing that might be considered as an expression of my satisfaction in that event."
