Camden gives the place of writing as "Dublin Castle." He served as lord lieutenant of Ireland from 1795 to 1798.

Summary
Writing that his portrait of Lord Euston (George Henry Fitzroy) has arrived safely and praising it: "I think it as fine a Picture of as good a subject for one, as I ever saw & altho' your fame is already high in this Country I think it will encrease it"; enclosing a draft for the amount he owes Romney; adding in a postscript that payment for the frame will be made through his agent in London and asking Romney to send him a receipt for the draft he is enclosing.
