Summary
Praising his book "...on the Satirists; I find it very pleasant reading, pervaded by a loyal cheerful spirit, well informed upon the subject; and am much obliged by your remembering me on this glad occasion. From Allingham and others, I have heard of you now and then : but you never yet came to see me according to your old promise; - which I can well enough explain to myself, without ill humour towards any quarter; tho' probably it really is a kind of Sin on your part? I have only to specify again, that I am here almost any day, accessible at half past three, going out for a walk, - if charitable friends please to call. Not going out of town this autumn, I think. For the rest, sunk to the chin, or deeper, in miserable "Brandenburg" and other Continents of Sand, and not at all in a too victorious condition! - You may believe me, I wish you always will; and am thankful for your goodness to me."
