Notes
A note by the sender at the bottom addresses the recipient as "Pair de France". Under Louis XVIII, Claude-Emmanuel, made a marquis in 1817, was awarded a French peerage for his extensive work on the Constitutional Charter, making him a possible recipient of this letter. Amédée became a marquis in 1840 and was also a member of the Constitutional Council, but hereditary peerages were abolished in 1831. Peerages for the life of the holder continued to exist untl the chamber and rank were abolished in 1848. Terminal year from life of the sender.
